Uniswap's First Permissioned Pool Goes Live With GromaCorp Real Estate Token
GromaCorp just dropped GromaCoin, the first permissioned asset on Uniswap, announced Nov. 5, 2026. It's a slice of a US-regulated multifamily REIT on Base, trading in a gated GRO/USDC pool — only verified accredited investors get in. Holders can also borrow against their tokens.
Uniswap just got its first gated pool. GromaCorp launched GromaCoin (GRO) on Nov. 5, 2026 — the first permissioned asset to run on Uniswap's automated market maker. It trades in a GRO/USDC pool on Uniswap v4, and verified investors can buy, sell, issue and redeem it at net asset value, all onchain.
GRO is an ERC-3643 security token issued on Base, and that standard bakes compliance straight into the token. KYC and investor eligibility rules sit at the token level, so transfers to unapproved wallets can be blocked. Each token represents a fractional slice of the Groma Real Estate Trust, a US-regulated REIT focused on multifamily residential properties, mostly in Greater Boston and Providence.
The gate exists because of Uniswap's Permissioned Pools framework, announced July 23, 2026. Asset issuers get managed allowlists and onchain compliance checks, and wallets that haven't cleared verification can't trade. GromaCoin is the first asset to use the setup, with access limited to accredited investors under the compliance measures in place.
The underlying trust isn't huge — assets are nearing $95 million, with a yield around 3.74%. Minting and redeeming at NAV keeps the onchain price anchored to the trust's per-token worth. The pitch: regulated property exposure that behaves like a DeFi asset, with onchain trading, NAV redemption and an option to borrow.
That borrow option runs through Birch Hill and Morpho, letting holders use GRO as collateral for USDC loans. Supply caps on the lending setup start at $5 million. An investor can buy GRO, collect rental-driven dividends and borrow stablecoins against the position without selling. The modest starting cap suggests a cautious rollout.
The tradeoff is depth. Restricting the pool to verified, accredited investors naturally caps how much liquidity can flow in. And the value still rests on multifamily properties in two metro areas, with all the usual real estate risks attached.
