Robinhood's CEO Wants Its Chain to Be the Default Home for Tokenized Assets and Memes

Robinhood has a target in mind for its blockchain: become the public chain people reach for first when they want real-world assets or meme coins. The company's CEO laid out that goal directly, with PANews reporting the ambition covers both categories. It's a big swing from a firm best known for putting stock trading in everyone's pocket.

The two targets sit at opposite ends of crypto. Real-world assets, or RWAs, are tokenized versions of things like treasuries, funds and other traditional instruments — the buttoned-up side of the market. Meme coins are the opposite: volatile, culture-driven tokens that live and die on attention. Betting a single chain can own both means courting institutions and degens in the same breath.

Robinhood's retail DNA makes the meme-coin half of that pitch a natural fit. The brokerage became a household name during the 2021 meme-stock frenzy, when a wave of everyday traders piled into heavily shorted names. Crypto has since become a core part of its business, and a public chain would push it deeper into the infrastructure layer rather than just the app.

What's still missing is the fine print. The report carried no timeline, no technical specifics and no word on how developers or projects would be lured onto the chain. Whether Robinhood Chain can actually become the default venue for RWAs and memes is an open question — and one the company will have to answer with builders, not slogans.

For now, the message is clear: Robinhood isn't content to sit on the sidelines of crypto's infrastructure race. It wants its own chain to be the place where tokenized assets and internet-native coins meet. That's a crowded field, and the CEO's stated goal sets the bar high.
