Five9 Reportedly Shells Out $325M in Cash for AI Startup Level AI
Five9 is reportedly buying conversation intelligence startup Level AI for $325 million in cash, per a post on X, with no SEC filing or press release yet confirming it. The all-cash deal would absorb a 2019-founded Mountain View company that handles over 1 billion interactions a year. The two were already integration partners through 2026.
Five9 has reportedly struck a deal to buy Level AI, a conversation intelligence startup, for $325 million in cash, according to a post on X. The all-cash price tag is the only term that has surfaced so far. As of November 5, 2026, no SEC filing or press release had confirmed the transaction.
Level AI, based in Mountain View, California, sells real-time agent assist and conversation intelligence tools to contact centers. Its pitch is what it calls semantic intelligence: instead of hunting for trigger words the way older call analytics did, the platform tries to grasp what a caller actually means — useful when someone is furious and never says the word cancel. The startup says it handles more than 1 billion interactions a year, roughly 4 trillion tokens, across about 100 enterprise customers.
The company was founded in 2019 and has raised about $73 million total, including a $39.4 million Series C in 2024. A $325 million cash exit would hand investors more than four times their money back.
Five9, headquartered in San Ramon, California, trades on Nasdaq under FIVN and was an early mover in cloud contact center software after launching in 2001. It posted $300 million in total revenue for Q4 2025, with more than $100 million of that tied to AI. Its Intelligent CX Platform serves thousands of customers and already bundles a stack of AI features.
This wouldn't be a cold acquisition. The two companies have been technology partners through much of 2026, building a native integration that lets Level AI's tools plug into the Five9 platform for quality assurance, compliance monitoring and agent guidance. They've also published joint materials and implementation guides. Five9 has bought AI before — Inference Solutions in 2020 brought conversational AI and virtual agents into the fold.
Paying in cash rather than stock means Five9 wouldn't dilute shareholders to get the deal done, and it gives Level AI's investors and staff a clean break with no exposure to FIVN's share price afterward. What's still open: formal confirmation, closing timelines, any regulatory review, and how management frames the hit to future AI revenue and margins. Level AI's customers who run it alongside a rival contact center platform will want to know whether those integrations survive under new ownership.
