Ukraine Says It Downed or Jammed 137 Drones in 167-Target Overnight Barrage

Ukraine's Air Force reported Sunday that Russia flung 167 aerial weapons at the country overnight, including three Kh-59/69 guided aircraft missiles fired from the direction of the Sea of Azov. The rest of the barrage was made up of 164 drones of assorted types, according to the military's tally.

The drones came in from a wide arc of launch points: Russia's Orel, Kursk, Millerovo and Primorsko-Akhtarsk regions, plus occupied Donetsk and the Gvardiyske area in occupied Crimea. That spread suggests a multi-axis attack rather than a single-point push.

Ukrainian defenses answered with everything they had on hand — aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems crews and mobile fire groups. Together they shot down or suppressed 137 of the drones, the Air Force said.

Not everything was stopped. The airstrikes hit 23 locations, while fragments from downed drones and missiles came down at six more sites, per the military's report. The Air Force did not detail damage or casualties at those spots.

The overnight total is a reminder of the scale Ukraine's layered air defense is asked to handle night after night, with drones arriving from multiple directions and missiles mixed in. Kyiv has yet to release a fuller accounting of what the strikes damaged.
