Israeli strike on Gaza tent kills one displaced Palestinian, injures another

A tent sheltering displaced Palestinians in central Gaza became a strike target, leaving one person dead and another wounded. Al Jazeera reported the casualties, citing sources at Al-Aqsa Hospital.

The strike hit Az-Zawayda, a town in the central Gaza Strip where displaced families have been sheltering. Medical staff at Al-Aqsa Hospital received the dead and injured, according to the same report.

It's a familiar scene in a war that keeps grinding on. Just days earlier, the Israel Defense Forces said it killed Jamal Abu Saeed, the head of operations in Hamas' military intelligence, in joint strikes with Shin Bet over the weekend. The IDF described him as a veteran commander who had led an anti-tank battalion and handled military specializations in Hamas' Central Camps Brigade.

The violence isn't confined to Gaza. Lebanon's Al-Nour Radio reported Israeli raids in several occupied West Bank locations, with troops entering Deir Ballut west of Salfit and the city of Tubas, plus clashes during an incursion into Zababdeh south of Jenin. Such operations have become routine, often ending in arrests of Palestinian residents.

Meanwhile, Israel's high security alert stays switched on over fears Iran could strike first. A senior Israeli security official, speaking anonymously to i24News, said Tehran is in a difficult position as it waits on Washington's next move — and doesn't want to be caught off guard a third time.

The reported interception of a US MQ-1 drone over Qeshm Island by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps adds another layer to the standoff. For families in Az-Zawayda, though, the danger arrived from the sky without warning.
