Houthis claim six strikes on Saudi refineries, airports and military sites

Yemen's Houthi movement says it launched six attacks across Saudi Arabia, hitting airports, oil facilities and military infrastructure in one of its most sweeping claims in some time. The Iran-backed group's military spokesman, Yahya Saree, announced the operations in a post on X.

Saree named the targets: the Ras Tanura oil refinery, an Aramco facility in Abqaiq, King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, the Rabigh oil refinery, and a Saudi military headquarters in the Najran region. The list spans both coasts and the kingdom's interior.

According to Saree, the strikes involved a large number of ballistic and cruise missiles along with drones. He did not detail damage, and there was no immediate independent confirmation of the results.

The claim lands awkwardly for Riyadh. It comes despite recent diplomatic outreach between Saudi Arabia and Iran aimed at settling regional disputes through dialogue — a channel that the Houthis' salvo now appears to test.

Saree didn't soften his language. He vowed the group will keep striking deep into Saudi territory, framing the campaign as an eye-for-an-eye equation: 'siege with siege' and 'escalation with escalation,' aimed at Saudi forces and their officers.

What happens next hinges on how Riyadh responds — and whether the flurry of missiles and drones translates into damage at the refineries and airports the Houthis say they hit.
