Clinton Wants Congress to Grill Musk Over DOGE Data Access
Hillary Clinton is pressing Congress to question Elon Musk about whether his Department of Government Efficiency illegally accessed Social Security, Medicare and tax records. She says a Trump pardon wouldn't excuse him from a subpoena, while Rep. Yassamin Ansari pushes an AI pause and superintelligence ban.
Hillary Clinton wants Elon Musk in the hot seat. The former Secretary of State called on Congress to question the man who ran the Department of Government Efficiency, pressing lawmakers to find out whether the agency got its hands on sensitive records and what happened to them afterward, according to an interview released Nov. 3.
Clinton specifically flagged Social Security, Medicare and tax information. She said lawmakers need to establish whether that material was illegally accessed, trace where it went and how it was used, and determine whether real harm occurred before moving to fix it. Hearings, she argued, should deliver answers — not just look busy.
There's a subpoena angle too. Clinton said a pardon from President Donald Trump wouldn't erase Musk's obligation to comply with a congressional subpoena. Trump has said he would consider preemptive pardons for Musk and his aides if Democrats win back Congress, a possibility he raised in earlier pardon remarks.
Rep. Yassamin Ansari of Arizona is pushing her own agenda. She wants advanced AI development paused, the industry regulated and artificial superintelligence banned — all on the new Congress' first day. It builds on her earlier calls for an AI pause and a superintelligence ban.
Musk didn't stay quiet. He replied to Ansari's post on X with “It's a Brave New World.” Ansari fired back, “See you soon,” though she didn't say whether she meant a hearing or something else.
The clock is ticking. The new Congress is expected to take office in January 2027, setting the stage for whatever combative hearings come next.
