Blockchain.com opens 24/7 API trading desk to institutional crypto traders
Blockchain.com flipped the switch Thursday on an institutional API trading service, giving hedge funds, family offices and corporations round-the-clock automated access to its crypto liquidity through one interface. Eligible clients can trade without prefunding and pick their own settlement schedule. It slots into a prime brokerage arm already serving over 1,500 institutions.
Blockchain.com is handing institutions a direct line to its crypto liquidity. The company launched an API trading service Thursday that runs 24/7 and lets clients execute automatically through a single interface, according to Crypto Briefing.
Instead of routing orders across a patchwork of venues, institutions trade majors, altcoins and stablecoins straight with Blockchain.com using executable quotes that bake in all costs. Eligible clients can also skip prefunding their accounts and choose settlement schedules that fit how they operate, with the API plugging into trading systems they already run.
The service sits inside Blockchain.com's Institutional Prime Brokerage business, which counts more than 1,500 institutional clients and already covers OTC spot and derivatives trading, custody, staking and yield products. It runs alongside the firm's existing OTC voice and chat desk, so clients can pair automated execution with a human trader when they want one.
Marc Sischka, Blockchain.com's global head of OTC trading, said institutional appetite for direct liquidity access, transparent pricing and efficient execution keeps climbing as digital asset participation gets more sophisticated.
The pitch targets hedge funds, family offices, corporations and other institutional investors hunting for automated crypto trading through a single counterparty. Interested institutions can request access and documentation through Blockchain.com's API Trading portal.
