Binance flips HYPE and APT withdrawals back on after $6.3B hack
Binance has re-enabled withdrawals for Hyperliquid (HYPE) and Aptos (APT), the latest assets unfrozen after its $6.3 billion breach on October 29. The exchange is still restoring networks in phases and hasn't said when everything will be back online.
Binance has switched withdrawals back on for Hyperliquid (HYPE) and Aptos (APT), the exchange's newest step in clawing its way back from a $6.3 billion security breach. Users can now move both tokens off the platform, according to the exchange's withdrawal update. More than a week after the October 29 attack, Binance still hasn't published a full list of what remains locked.
The recovery has come in waves. Binance froze crypto withdrawals when the breach hit, then started reopening on November 1 with Bitcoin and selected assets across 15 blockchain networks, saying it had refilled roughly 95% of the affected holdings. Ethereum and Solana tokens followed on November 3. A November 6 notice named HYPE, APT, INJ, PLASMA, NEAR and LTC as the next targets for reopening by the end of the following week — so far only two of those six have been confirmed as cleared.
Binance opened the Ethereum round with five stablecoins: RLUSD, USD1, TUSD, FDUSD and XUSD. Chainlink, Shiba Inu, Ondo, Pendle, Worldcoin, Ethena and Ethena USDe came next. Over on Solana, withdrawals resumed for BONK, Jupiter, Render, Raydium, dogwifhat, Official Trump and Pyth Network. The exchange says availability depends on the specific asset and its network, so one token coming back doesn't mean every route is live again.
Binance has promised to absorb customer losses with corporate resources and its Secure Asset Fund for Users, and says it will rebuild that emergency fund to about $1 billion. It finished reserve verification for ten cryptocurrencies on November 2, covering BTC, ETH, USDT, BNB, SOL, USDC, XRP, USD1, RLUSD and ZEC.
Both newly reopened tokens are trading in the red. Per crypto.news data, HYPE sat near $77.12 on November 8, down about 2.47% in 24 hours, with a seven-day slide of roughly 11.98% and daily volume around $456 million. APT traded near $0.5944, off 1.16% on the day and about 6.8% over the week, on volume close to $17.1 million. The available data doesn't link those moves to Binance's decision.
No date has been set for full restoration. Binance says further updates will land on its official channels as security checks wrap up, and it will prioritize assets based on customer demand. Crypto.news asked Binance about the remaining restrictions, the timeline and withdrawal activity after the HYPE and APT reopenings, but hadn't heard back by press time.
