President Trump says impeaching him would "destroy" Democrats, per a post from Cointelegraph on X. The outlet billed the remark as big news, putting it in front of its followers without additional context.
The post didn't say when or where Trump made the comment, or whether it was tied to any specific push on Capitol Hill. It also gave no indication of who, if anyone, the warning was aimed at.
Impeachment is a familiar battleground for Trump, who was impeached twice during his first term and acquitted by the Senate both times. Talk of another round tends to surface fast whenever Washington's partisan temperature spikes.
For now, the statement stands on its own: a blunt prediction from the president that going after him would backfire badly on the opposing party. Cointelegraph's post carried no reaction from Democratic lawmakers or the White House.
