DelBene: This Election Ends the Trump Era as Vance Rallies the Right
DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene says the midterms will mark "the end of the Trump era" and predicts Democrats take back the House. VP JD Vance told voters it's their job to elect Republicans, while Trump boosted three Senate picks and celebrated an early Guam win.
Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chair Suzan DelBene didn't hedge. In a Tuesday interview with CNBC, the Washington Democrat said the midterm election would mark "the end of the Trump era" and "the beginning of a government that should be working for the people."
She's been building toward that call all day. Speaking with CNN, DelBene said she's "confident" Democrats will "take back" the House and hold a "strong governing majority" — but warned Republicans have spent the cycle trying to break the system, pointing to redistricting in Texas, attacks on vote-by-mail, and efforts to remove legal voters from the rolls. She's tracking eight key contests, including districts in Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio, Arizona, and Texas.
Across the aisle, Vice President JD Vance pushed hard for turnout. On his personal X account he told supporters it's their responsibility to make sure Republican candidates win nationwide, writing "Get out there and send a message to the radical left that we don't want their bullshit," and urging voters to "make a plan to vote" and bring a friend.
President Donald Trump spent Tuesday endorsing Republican Senate candidates Mike Rogers in Michigan, Ken Paxton in Texas, and Dan Sullivan in Alaska. In separate posts he went after Rogers' Democratic opponent Abdul El-Sayed and Paxton's rival James Talarico, accusing both of backing higher taxes and open borders. Trump also claimed "The Dumocrats are trying to steal this Race by putting a FAKE Daniel J. Sullivan, Jr. on the Ballot."
Trump got an early win to point at. He hailed the unofficial results in Guam, a US territory that has long leaned Democratic, where he said Republican Tony Ada took the governor's race and Republicans won a majority in the state Senate. "Wow, hopefully that's an indication for things to" come, he wrote.
Two parties, two very different closing arguments — and voters are already casting the verdict.
