Canton's $CNTN Becomes First Tokenized US Stock to Trade Under SEC Exemption

Canton Strategic Holdings just put the first tokenized U.S. stock on the board under the SEC's Innovation Exemption. Its ticker, $CNTN, traded through TSV LLC, according to Cointelegraph. DRW Cumberland and Flowdesk were among the first counterparties on those trades.

That combination matters: a live U.S. equity, a regulatory carve-out, and crypto-native trading firms all in the same venue. The Innovation Exemption is the channel that let the shares move on-chain without the usual registration path. Canton Strategic Holdings gets the first-mover slot.

TSV LLC handled the execution. DRW Cumberland and Flowdesk, both familiar names in digital-asset market making, stepped in as early counterparties. Their presence gives the debut immediate liquidity depth rather than a lonely first print.

Tokenized equities have been circling Wall Street for years, mostly overseas or in sandboxed pilots. Landing one under an SEC exemption, on U.S. rails, flips that script. It gives every other issuer a working template to study — or copy.

The obvious question now is follow-through: whether other companies queue up for the same treatment, and whether the counterparty list widens beyond the two firms named. For now, $CNTN owns a first that nobody can take back.
