Apple throws Siri AI wide open to every developer
Apple launched a Developer Preview on Tuesday that lets any developer link their app to Siri AI using App Intents, arriving with the iOS 27.3, iPadOS 27.3, macOS 27.3 and visionOS 27.3 betas. Customer rollout lands in a few months, with App Store submissions opening in spring. The EU stays left out for now.
Apple just cracked open Siri's doors. On Tuesday the company launched a Developer Preview that lets any app plug its content and actions straight into Siri AI, according to Breaking The News. No more waiting on a hand-picked list of partners — if you build an app, you can now build for Siri.
The preview rides along with the iOS 27.3, iPadOS 27.3, macOS 27.3 and visionOS 27.3 betas. Apple says developers can use App Intents to wire their apps into Siri AI's freshest tricks: personal context understanding, onscreen awareness and natural language. In plain terms, Siri gets to see what's on your screen and know who you are while you talk to it.
Apple is calling this early access. The first real shipping version to customers lands in a few months, and App Store submissions open in the spring. So developers get a head start now, with a full release still on the horizon.
Siri AI currently speaks English, French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish. One notable gap: it isn't available in the European Union on iOS, iPadOS and watchOS. Apple didn't say when — or whether — that changes. That silence leaves European users watching from the outside while the rest of the world gets chatty with Siri.
The move turns Siri from a closed club into an open platform, and it puts Apple in direct competition with every assistant racing to become the layer on top of your phone. For developers, it's a new front door to Apple's ecosystem. For Apple, it's a bet that more apps inside Siri makes Siri worth using at all.
