Binance Hackers Dump $46M in Solana for Bitcoin as Laundering Spreads

The money is on the move again. Stolen Solana tokens linked to the $6.3 billion Binance theft are being flipped for Bitcoin through Relay, according to tokenpost.com, pushing the laundering operation onto a new chain after temporary Tron holding wallets were largely emptied.

The haul: 486,970 Solana (SOL), worth about $46.4 million. Those coins were among the assets that slipped past freezes put in place after Thursday's theft. Gate did freeze two linked accounts, but stayed quiet on how much was actually locked up.

Investigators are racing the swaps. The FBI, U.S. Secret Service and IRS Criminal Investigation told exchanges, THORChain node operators and DeFi services to block transactions tied to the identified wallet addresses, or any funds traced back to them. The FBI pinned the theft on North Korea's TraderTraitor hackers and published the addresses linked to the stolen assets.

The pivot to Solana and instant swap tools looks less like a detour and more like the playbook. The FBI expects more laundering to run through DeFi and quick-swap services, which are harder to freeze than a centralized exchange account.

For exchanges and node operators, the window is tight: funds that hit a mixer or a swap pool can be split, bridged and gone before a freeze request lands. The addresses are public — the question is how fast the industry acts on them.
