Michael Saylor Says Bitcoin Bull Market Has Begun, Predicts Return Above $100K
Strategy's Michael Saylor said Bitcoin has entered a new bull market and will recover above $100,000, speaking in a Bloomberg Television interview on October 13. Bitcoin trades near $83,000, about 34% below its October 2025 record. Strategy also faces an MSCI index ruling due Friday that could affect its classification.
Bitcoin has entered a new bull market and should climb back above $100,000, according to Michael Saylor, executive chairman of Strategy. In a Bloomberg Television interview on October 13, Saylor said the cryptocurrency had already found its floor and was starting another leg higher. He did not offer a timeline for when it might reclaim six figures. "We hit the bottom around slightly below $60,000," Saylor said, noting Bitcoin has since recovered into the $80,000 range. The largest cryptocurrency has traded near $80,000 since mid-August, roughly 34% below its October 2025 record of $126,251. That peak was followed by about $19 billion in liquidations, which weighed heavily on leveraged positions. Saylor tied his outlook to shifting monetary conditions, regulatory developments and growing institutional participation. He expects Bitcoin to gain from banks expanding their crypto services and from demand for digital credit products. He also projected annualized growth of 20% to 30% over the coming years, framing that as a long-term expectation rather than a guaranteed return. Strategy intends to keep accumulating Bitcoin as the market recovers, issuing additional securities to fund purchases alongside its digital credit operations. Its latest treasury purchase added 250 BTC for about $21.5 million between October 5 and 11, bringing total holdings to 848,250 BTC. The company also repurchased $192.4 million of its STRC preferred shares. Its financing model relies on preferred shares, cash reserves and equity issuance. Not everything is working in Strategy's favor. MSCI has proposed changing its global equity index rules in a way that could exclude companies chiefly engaged in accumulating assets rather than operating businesses, raising questions about how Strategy would be classified. Saylor called the approach "a bad precedent for them and for the industry" and pushed for Strategy to stay categorized as an operating company. JPMorgan has estimated that an exclusion could put roughly $2.8 billion in investment flows at risk. MSCI is expected to announce its decision on Friday, a ruling that could determine whether Strategy remains eligible for global equity benchmarks and the funds that track them. Strategy is continuing to defend its business classification ahead of that announcement.
