Girl, 5, killed as BYD Seal rear-ends Bezza in six-vehicle KL crash
A five-year-old girl died from severe head injuries after a six-vehicle collision on Jalan Kuching in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday afternoon. She was a rear-seat passenger in a Perodua Bezza driven by her 30-year-old father and was pronounced dead at Hospital Kuala Lumpur.
Kuala Lumpur Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said the 3.44pm crash involved five cars and a motorcycle. Traffic was moving slowly from the city centre towards Segambut when a BYD Seal rear-ended the Bezza, he said in a statement.
According to Zamzuri, the impact also involved a motorcycle and sent the Bezza spinning into the right lane, where it struck three other vehicles — a Nissan Almera, a Toyota Alphard and a Perodua Myvi. The girl's father suffered injuries to his right hand, while the 33-year-old rider of a Yamaha 135LC sustained head injuries. Both were treated at HKL, and the other three people involved were unhurt.
Police said they had located the 24-year-old BYD Seal driver, who left the scene after the collision. He was being treated for a concussion at a private hospital in Damansara and remained under the supervision of the investigating officer while investigations continued, Zamzuri said.
A video of the accident has circulated widely online.
