Asylum Seeker Sentenced to 11 Years for Attempted Rape in London
An asylum seeker who claimed a micropenis and obesity prevented him from attempting rape has been jailed for 11 years. Hossein Mohmoudi, 35, was convicted of attacking a woman in a London alleyway in 2024 after stalking her for an hour. A passing cyclist intervened, leading to a police investigation that used CCTV to track him down.
Hossein Mohmoudi, 35, has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for attempted rape. He was found guilty at Snaresbrook Crown Court in June. The attack took place in 2024 in a London alleyway after the victim had attended a Christmas party.
According to britbrief.co.uk, the court heard that Mohmoudi stalked the woman for an hour, crossing the road when she did and boarding the same bus. A passing cyclist intervened and alerted police, prompting a major Metropolitan Police investigation. Detectives reviewed 30 hours of CCTV footage to identify Mohmoudi and tracked him to his home, arresting him two days later.
Mohmoudi denied the attack, claiming his micropenis, low libido, and obesity made it impossible for him to have committed the assault. However, consultant urologist Dr George Fowlis told the court that Mohmoudi's penis was 'normal'. Prosecutor Christiaan Moll also dismissed Mohmoudi's explanation that he had browsed a fetish website the day before to improve his English.
The court also heard that Mohmoudi had previously been reported to police for stalking a woman while she walked her dog. He left Iran in 2014 and illegally entered Turkey, Greece, Germany, and France before arriving in Britain. While in Germany, he was convicted twice for assault and three times for criminal damage.
Detective Inspector Thomas Meaden, who led the Metropolitan Police investigation, commended the victim's strength and thanked the member of the public who intervened. He described Mohmoudi as a predator who poses a danger to women and girls, adding that had the cyclist not interrupted, Mohmoudi intended to commit further harm.
